6 Natural Allergy Remedies
As we move into Allergy season, millions are about to be plagued with uncomfortable, itchy eyes, sniffles and sneezing. What do you do for your allergies? Do you hit the pharmacy for allergy relief pills or do you opt for natural remedies?
Millions use pharmaceutical treatments to aid them with their symptoms. These drugs are pretty costly, and many people say they really don't help them. The side effects of drowsiness and nasal irritation can cause somewhat of a mental disconnect as well.
Allergy sufferers also complain of headaches, mental fatigue and sadness.
What are some of the natural ways to deal with this problem? We will name six; Neti Pots, Quercetin, Allergy Fighting Foods, Stinging Nettle,Butterbur and Sublingual Immunotherapy.
What is a Neti Pot and how does that help?
A Neti Pot looks a like a small tea pot. They have been used for thousands of years in India. The principle is to rinse the allergens away with saltwater. Just a little dousing of the special salt water solution works on rinsing out the pollen grains. This is effective for sinus congestion as well.
You simply mix about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of noniodized salt into warm water. Fill your little neti pot and pour through your one side of your nose. It takes a little getting use to as you put the spout of the neti pot into one nostril, tilt your head (over the sink) and pour the salt solution through your nostril. You do that on one side, then on the other side you repeat the process. The water gets poured into the one nostril and runs out of the other one. Once done a gentle bow of the nose will clear it out. You can do this twice a day in the high allergy season. It is a good way to start your day, just like brushing your teeth and then if you have been outdoors, may want to do again when you come in. Net pots are inexpensive, and they, plus the special salt can be purchased at most healthy food stores.
