3 Musketeers is a candy bar that is made in the United States and Canada by Mars, Incorporated. 3 Musketeers is a chocolate-covered fluffy whipped chocolate bar. First introduced in 1932 the 3 Musketeers Bar was the third brand that was produced and made by M&M/Mars. Originally, the 3 Musketeers bars had three pieces in one package, flavored chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. With the three bars in the package, that is where the name came. But with rising costs and wartime restrictions on sugar saw, the vanilla and strawberry pieces were phased out to leave only the more popular chocolate flavored bar. The 3 Musketeers bar cost a mere five cents when it was first introduced and was marketed as one of the largest chocolate bars available, and one that could be shared by friends. In 2015, Mars debuted a marketing campaign in the form of a YouTube channel. The 3 Musketeers campaign was developed and directed by the advertising agency Tribal Worldwide, who said that the campaign was an effort to establish recognition and relevancy among Generation Z. The chocolate candy is made of a whipped nougat filling that is covered with milk chocolate. The nougat chocolate center is first formed into very large slabs, which are then cut to size, and after which the centers are formed and coated with milk chocolate through a process known as enrobing where the centers pass through a continuous flowing sheet of chocolate. While this is being done a rotating, chocolate-covered wheel beneath the mesh belt coats the base of the bar. The final product is a delicious chocolate bar that has been a favorite for close to a hundred years.
