7-Layer Bean Dip - One of the Best Recipes you will Find!
The best snacks for entertaining are probably dips, and this dip is sure to please a crowd. A 7 layer dip that has everything in it you want to dip your chips into, topped with cheese. It's perfect for a party, or it's one of the quick recipes you can make when you want a nice hearty snack to enjoy. It could even be a great snack for a movie night in with family or a mid-day snack to enjoy with lunch. You can buy nice layered dips at the store, but they tend to be pretty expensive. So if you're willing to put in the work, which isn't actually a lot of work at all, you will save a lot of money on this easy snack for entertaining. Most 7 layer bean dip recipes include a refried bean layer, so you're going to want to get your favourite flavourful refried beans for this one. You can even make your own refried beans, but of course, that's going to take some more time which you may not have. You can buy pinto beans, soak them overnight and then boil them until they are tender, mash them up and add some seasonings then fry them up in a pan. Usually, refried beans also include some sort of fat like lard, but you can leave that out, and they will taste just as good.
Jaclyn from Cooking Classy found a 7 layer dip and put her own spin on it as she often likes to do with her recipes. You can also make any adjustments you like as well to make it to your tastes. She uses Rosarita Refried Beans, but you can use any canned beans or your own homemade beans if you like. You can then add some seasoning to the beans if you like as well. Then you will make your own guacamole which is really easy to do. You just need some ripe avocados, lemon juice and garlic with some sea salt. To pick the best avocados you can look at the top of the avocado where it gets narrow, and you'll see a little nib there. Peel the nib away from the avocado, and you'll see that a little hole is left and it will be a nice green colour or a brown colour. Fresh, ripe avocados will have a light green colour in this little hole while overripe ones will be brown. For the cheese in this recipe, you can use freshly shredded cheese or pre-shredded cheese from the store if you're in a hurry. There is also a sour cream layer to this dip, but if you want you can use low-fat Greek yogurt instead for a lighter healthier option.
The preparation time for this quick recipe is only 10 minutes if you use all of the premade ingredients. It will serve about 10 servings so if you're serving it to a larger crowd maybe make two of these 7 layer dips just in case. Making it in a shallow clear baking dish will also allow you to see all of the nice colours of each of the layers which is always cool. So for this recipe, you'll need one can of refried beans, diced tomatoes, green chillies, chilli powder, cumin, garlic powder, black pepper, avocados, lime juice, cilantro, sour cream or Greek yogurt, sliced black olives, cheese and green onions. When your dip is ready to be served up, serve it with a big bowl of tortilla chips for dipping. You could also serve it with veggies if you wanted a lighter option too.
