9 effective ways to get rid of every single bed bug without using a single chemical
Bed bugs, just hearing those words is enough to send shivers up and down your spine, especially if you've had them invade your home before. While bed bugs have been around for thousands of years in all countries around the world, they didn't really become a huge issue until the 1990s. These tiny little bugs are about the size of a sesame seed and they kind of look like a smaller version of a tick. Like ticks, they also suck your blood, but they come out only at night while you're asleep to feast on up to six times their weight in blood. They hideout during the day which can make them super difficult to spot and eradicate. But you can learn how to get rid of bed bugs with some help from different cleaning tips on the internet. These cleaning tips on how to get rid of bed bugs come from The Hearty Soul who is reposting an article from Wellness Mama. Katie from Wellness Mama shares her natural cleaning tips to get rid of bed bugs effectively and naturally.
How do you get bed bugs in the first place though? The most common way is picking them up from your travels or by staying somewhere that has them. If you live in an apartment where there's an infestation, you'll be more likely to get them in your apartment too. Also, if you buy used furniture, be sure to check it thoroughly before bringing it into your home. Unlike ticks, bed bugs don't carry or spread disease, and they don't cause any health issues which is good, but the bites can be very irritating, and it's just unsettling to think that these critters are sharing your bed with you. So it's best to get rid of them right away so that they don't multiply any further. Prevention will be your best bet so always check your hotel rooms when you're travelling and wash your clothes and items when you get home. If you find bed bugs get rid of as many as you can with your own two hands by removing them from your mattress and squishing them. Secondly, wash everything you have in the room you found the bugs in and check all of the other rooms in your home. Wash everything in hot water, and if you can't wash it in hot water, you can put it into a bag and throw it into your freezer. Or, if it's especially cold where you live you can put everything in a plastic bag and leave it outside overnight to kill them.
You can also use essential oils like tea tree oil, orange oil and cedar oil to get rid of bed bugs. Just put a few drops in a spray bottle with water and spray anywhere you think they may be hiding. Sure beats those chemical sprays you can buy at the store, plus your home will smell so good after too. You can also use Diatomaceous Earth to kill them. Just sprinkle it all over your mattress and in your room and then leave it for a while and vacuum it all up. Just empty out your vacuum right away and seal up the bag you throw the vacuum contents in and take it outside. Also, another great tip is to use baking soda to kill them, the Diatomaceous Earth and baking soda will both dry up the bed bugs killing them and their eggs. So these are just a few of the ways you can either prevent or get rid of bed bugs in your home, check all of the information out on The Hearty Soul.***
