Are you Totally Confused about Cooking Oils
Confused about Cooking Oils? Well this ingenious graph over at the “Information is Beautiful” website will help you get all of your oils sorted out. Once you study it, you’ll know which is best for cooking at high, medium, and cool temperatures, those that are best for your health, and even those that work best for massage therapy!
Holy oil, batman – we didn’t realize there were so many different kinds. Of course we knew about olive, grapeseed, and coconut oils. We knew about sesame, hemp, and flax seed oils. We even knew about hazelnut, almond, and ghee. But we had never considered argan, duck fat, or cottonseed. We had never contemplated pecan, mustard, or macadamia. And we had never even dreamt of cashew, pumpkin seed or ricebran!
And this isn’t even all of them – there are so many oils out there to choose from! Each and every one of them is good for something but perhaps not so good for others. What to use for which? No wonder we are confused! And that’s why this wonderful visualization really sets us straight. Good for David McCandless and his awesome team over at “Information is Beautiful” for creating this very helpful graphic.
The mission of “Information is Beautiful” is to design fun and complex information so that it’s easily digested. It may sound strange, but at “Information is Beautiful”, they truly believe information can be beautiful!
And they’ve certainly proven this with this lovely “Oil Well” visualization – it’s truly brilliant!
