On some days more is less, like this Billionaire Bars recipe for instance. It has five heavenly layers of decadence which include chocolate, peanut butter, brownies, caramel and shortbread. This dessert is so delicious and never seems like it's too much because they taste perfect. You start making these bars by layering a soft buttery homemade shortbread from scratch and then add a layer of brownie on top and pour caramel sauce along with chocolate and peanut butter frosting. You'll never be able to believe how quickly you can put together this easy and delicious dessert in no time especially if you have an event planned at the last minute. You can serve these delicious bars at parties, family gatherings, picnics or even have a piece or two as a side with a cup of coffee. Fun desserts like these yummy bars always add a touch of excitement to your menu as well because they have all the wonderful ingredients that everyone enjoys eating. You can make these little pieces of heaven any time of the year and for any occasion. They are pretty versatile and one of the most simple dessert recipes you’ll find.

There are several ways to make this recipe taste exceptional. In place of a homemade shortbread crust, you can try other types of crust like Oreo, Graham crackers, ‘Digestive’ or ‘Rich Tea biscuits,' lady fingers, shortbread, or any cookie that has a little cinnamon in it. Try using vanilla flavored wafers which make for an excellent option as well. You can add mint chocolate chips or put some orange zest in the mixture to give it a refreshing twist of citrus flavor. If you want you can also add toffee bits like Skor, butterscotch chips, almond bark, white chocolate chips, condensed milk, desiccated coconut, toasted nuts, mini marshmallows to this recipe because that is precisely what you want to do with this recipe. The more you add, the better. Make these bars the way your guests or family wants them.

For a slightly healthier version, you can replace the crust with a gluten-free one and use dark chocolate chips or bittersweet chips with at least 70 percent or more cacao in the place of regular milk chocolate chips. Dark chocolate is not only full of antioxidants but also a healthy alternative because it has less sugar and goes through less processing cycle. Another way to make these bars healthier is to add raisins or dates to naturally add the sweetness and cut out some of the sugar if you want. When you're preparing the caramel sauce, always bring the cream to room temperature or warmer if you can. If not, the caramel sauce could harden up and not achieve the desired consistency. Remember when you’re cooking the caramel sauce, always look for that lovely amber color. Don’t let it cook for so long that it might get too dark or could burn and ruin the taste. When caramel sauce is hot, it has a thinner consistency but will firm up once cooled. You can add sweetened or unsweetened condensed milk to this freshly prepared caramel sauce just before you start layering the ingredients.
