Enjoy this easy brownie recipe for Chocolate Cream Pie Brownies. Imagine the amazing flavours of a chocolate cream pie in brownie form. The delicious cream and the rich chocolate flavours just go so well together. Originally, cream pies were made with a custard filling, usually vanilla, topped with a whipped cream. The cream pie dessert recipes are made in one crust and the recipe for the custard is similar to a crème patissière a French dessert recipe. Over the years new cream pie dessert recipes have evolved like banana cream pie, lemon cream pie, lime cream pie and of course, chocolate cream pie. People enjoy the cream pies since they are a nice, decadent creamy dessert that is actually quite light. There are many cream pie dessert recipes online and you can also purchase pre made cream pies at bakeries and grocery stores, sometimes in the frozen foods section of the store. You can even make vegan or lactose free versions of a cream pie if you like. Just substitute the cream for coconut cream or coconut milk and add the flavouring of your choice. There are also coconut whipped creams that are substitutes for dairy whipped cream. So just because someone is vegan or lactose intolerant doesn't mean that they have to miss out on yummy desserts.

Brownies were first introduced to a recipe book by a woman named Fanny Farmer. Fanny adapted her chocolate cookie recipe to be baked in a rectangular pan, and what resulted was a perfect mix between a cake and a cookie recipe. Brownies are known for being denser than a cake and rich with cocoa and chocolatey flavour. The first easy brownie recipe was featured in the 1896 edition of The Boston Cooking-School Cookbook. But, it was three years before that in 1893 that Bertha Palmer asked a baker to make her and her friends a sweet treat to have at the World's Columbian Exposition, which was a fair held in Chicago in 1893 in celebration of 400 years since Christopher Columbus arrived in what is now known as North America in 1492. The baker obliged and created a cake - like dessert that would be packed into the boxed lunches and be nice and small making it easier to eat than a piece of cake. The dessert was such a hit that Bertha started having them served at the Palmer House Hotel, which was the hotel her husband owned. These brownies had walnuts and an apricot glaze.
