If you love chocolate and peanut butter desserts, than we have a treat for you! Here is an epic Chocolate Peanut Butter Buckeye Cake that you will be drooling over if you love desserts of the peanut butter variety. There are so many great dessert recipes out there, it seems like people just keep coming up with amazing recipes all the time. With all the food bloggers out there, it's no wonder every time I go to an event or dinner party there are several new and exciting things I have never tried, let alone even heard of! This is one of those things I had never ever heard of before, a Buckeye. So I had to look it up of course!

And after I saw the photo, I immediately knew what they were, a type of chestnut that falls from the tree. When we were living in Mexico, they called a nut or seed similar to this, 'ojo de venado' or deer eye or I suppose, buck eye like these ones I saw online. The deer eye is actually revered as a symbol of protection, like the evil eye or eye of god. People wear them on necklaces as pendants to protect them.

The other type of buckeye is a dessert that resembles the buckeye nut or seed. It is a very simple dessert made of peanut butter dipped in chocolate and then frozen so that it solidifies. I have made something similar, with rice crispies mixed into the peanut butter, but we just call them peanut butter balls. This cake is like a large version of the smaller buckeye balls, because the author loved them so much she decided to make it into a full on cake! Pretty cool hey? Now you can try it out for yourself!
