If you love your crock pot, you're probably always on the lookout for new and yummy crock pot meal ideas as well as other crock pot recipes for special occasions. Having a crock pot makes a big difference in the way you prepare meals, and it can really make things easier for you when it comes to meal time. There are so many different crock pot recipes out there too which makes it kind of fun too. You can choose a new recipe each week and see if it's something that will stick and become part of your weekly menu. Or, you can try new recipes to bring to parties or gatherings and see how much other people love them. One of the most popular snack foods to bring to parties is meatballs. People love savoury dishes at parties, and the meatball is one of those recipes that can be so versatile. You can make them in a variety of different flavours like these cranberry meatballs from Spicy Southern Kitchen, or you can make them with different sauces like tomato, grape, or with barbeque sauce. For Christin, meatballs are a regular recipe seen at parties in her town. She says that every southern Holiday Party she's ever gone to has crock pot meatballs and people always love them.
There's also a meatball recipe that uses a jar of grape jelly which are very popular, but it's fun to switch things up. This time Christin tried an interesting combination of cranberry sauce and pepper jelly to give the meatballs a sweet, tangy and slightly spicy flavour which would be perfect for those who love to try something new. Meatballs are not only great to make for parties because everyone loves them, but they're also super easy to make and their affordable. Christin swears by using Farm Rich frozen meatballs for her crock pot recipes including this Cranberry Cocktail Meatballs recipe. Using the frozen meatballs will cut a lot of the prep time out of things, it will also help the meatballs hold their shape better while cooking too. If you do make your own meatballs, it's smart to freeze them first for an hour or so so that they stick together while cooking. Plus, the Farm Rich meatballs are actually gluten free which makes them even more appealing. Christin also shares some other hacks with us to make food prep even easier. Like how to peel your potatoes the easy way. Instead of peeling them with a hand held peeler, just boil them with the skins still on and then when they're done, put them in ice water. Then the skins will seriously just slide off. You can also cook corn on the cob for a large crowd by putting it in a cooler with boiling water for 30 minutes.
To make these Cranberry Meatballs all, you'll need is a jar of chilli sauce, a can of jellied cranberry sauce, a jar of Red Pepper Jelly, brown sugar, hot sauce and a bag of frozen meatballs. If you can't find the brand she suggests, just use whatever you can find at the store. Simply mix all of the ingredients except for the meatballs together in your crock pot. Then, add the meatballs and stir everything to coat the meatballs. Set your crock pot to the low setting and let the meatballs and sauce cook for 6 to 8 hours or set on high for 2 to 2.5 hours if you have less time. Then wait for the delicious scent to start filling up your home. Serve them up on a decorative plate or in a bowl and stick toothpicks in them for easy handling and eating.***
