There is nothing quite like baking homemade bread that’s fluffy as clouds that melt in your mouth. There is something so tasty about well-risen dough that’s ready to be baked right before dinner. The rest of the bread ingredients include everyday items like flour, butter eggs etc.
Sometimes we tend to get nervous when you have to bake bread with yeast. But don’t worry, once you face your fears with yeast you’ll never go back to store-bought bread. A simple bread recipe like this one is less intimidating to make for those who are not quite sure of baking homemade bread. The key to getting a homemade bread right is combining all the ingredients until well blended. The dough has to be at the right consistency which is not too dry or too sticky. The right way of getting a good dough consistency is by adding the wet ingredients slowly in several batches and keep checking for the consistency at the same time while blending. Keep in mind that if you want to use hands for blending, proper kneading is critical for good textured dough. One way of doing this is by using your knuckles to gently punch the dough and roll it between the heels of your palms. Always cover the dough by laying a plastic wrap over the bowl and let it rest until the dough rises and doubles in size. In the winter if it's somewhat challenging for the dough to rise due to lack of enough heat, you can turn on the oven for about 2-3 minutes. Switch it off and stick the bowl of dough inside the oven and let it rest. The heat generated in the oven will help the dough rise well. These are good tips that will help you bake soft bread.
Another important thing to factor in while baking homemade bread is how you treat the yeast in any bread recipe. While it is true that yeast baking is somewhat tricky, you can still bake quality bread at home if you follow some simple steps for using yeast. Firstly, since yeast is a live bacteria, it is important to activate it using a liquid whether water or milk that is set at the right temperature anywhere between 105 and 110 degrees Fahrenheit. If the liquid is any hotter, there is a high chance of the yeast causing to die which might not help the bread rise at all. If the yeast has been sitting in the fridge, make sure to bring it to room temperature before mixing it with liquid. Another important aspect of yeast is unless when mixed with a liquid yeast will start reducing its activity when it comes in direct contact with sugar or salt. Once you have followed the above instructions for yeast, you should be able to bake a simple bread recipe at home within a day’s time.
