Frozen Coconut Smores Bar
Ooh, here’s a lovely summer recipe for camp, cottage, or the back yard – Frozen Coconut S’mores Bars! You don’t have to be at a bonfire to enjoy this age-old classic; you can just imagine that you are!
The sweet memories of S’mores! We all have them. Warm summer nights at the campfire, toasting marshmallows and mixing them with our other two favourite things – graham crackers and chocolate! So yummy! Ever wonder how the first S’more was invented? Well, we’re pretty sure it all happened by “accident”, and we can’t tell you exactly when or where. However, we CAN tell you the first S’mores recipe was published in the Girl Scout Handbook (“Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts”) way back in 1927. And, as legend has it, they were just so darned good everyone would always ask for s’more.
This recipe for Frozen Coconut S’mores Bars is a slight differentiation of the S’mores theme – one that’s even more perfect for the summer season, because they are a wonderful way to cool down on a hot summer afternoon.
And who do we have to thank for this yummy summer recipe? This one’s courtesy of Karyn over at the Pint Sized Baker blog! Karyn lives in the West Virginia Panhandle with her husband and kids. She’s loved baking since she was a little girl baking in the kitchen with her Mom and Grandmother. She’s carrying on the family tradition by baking all of the amazing dishes she loved when she was a kid, as well as trying out new recipes – including many “over the top, mega calorie desserts”. Lucky for us! If she didn’t have this great blog, we never woulda found this mega delicious recipe!
