Glass etching is an easy and inexpensive way to stamp your name onto your pyrex dishes. By etching your name onto your pyrex you can make sure they come back to you. You'll want to take a look at the site for the full step by step tutorial.

1. First, you will need a piece of vinyl that has an adhesive back, like the vinyl you buy for vinyl wall decor. You can buy rolls or sheets of the vinyl at craft stores, or you can buy some vinyl much cheaper from ono of the sponsors on the site such as Expressions Vinyl. If you don’t have a craft cutter of your own to help cut the image for you, then you can trace an image, a shape, or the letters onto the vinyl and then cut the image out with an Exacto knife, or a utility knife. And you may also try to do the glass etching technique with a piece of contact paper if you are going to be cutting out your shapes freehand with an Exacto knife.

2. Then peel away the shapes that you are using, making sure to leave the negative space all in one piece. You want to keep in mind that if you are using an Exacto knife, to not cut through the negative space. Then cut away the letters or shapes, but leave the main piece together, without cuts or tears in it.

3. Then the next step in this diy idea and project to do is to place a piece of the transfer paper you could also use contact paper for this step, that is sticky on the one side, to the front of your vinyl. Then peel the vinyl backing away. You can look at the step by step tutorial if you are unsure about this step.

4. Then you will place your vinyl against the glass, making sure to center the image you want to use exactly where you’d like it. Press the image down firmly, then pull off the transfer paper/contact paper. And if you see any air bubbles you will want to press those down firmly with your fingers. For the full step by step tutorial for this DIY idea, you will want to take a look at the site.

It's important to note that this diy idea and process will make the etching on the glass permanent. The cream that is used for this do it yourself craft is an acid and etches away at the surface of your glass, which transforms the look of your glass permanently. So you cannot rub the etching or wash the etching off after it is done. After the process, you will need to rinse off really well with some water and use your fingers to rub it all off. Then you want to peel back the vinyl and rinse again with some soap and water. Make sure to dry your etched glass and admire the beautiful etching, which is all done for you by the cream. You will find this glass etching technique on the Make It Love It site. On the site, you will find recipe ideas, DIY ideas, do it yourself crafts, projects to do, home decor, repurposing and so much more. **
