Homemade Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts are a great way to start the day. Research is beginning to show that eating a small amount of something sweet in the morning, when you are following a diet plan, helps to stave off much bigger cravings later in the day. So these Homemade Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts may just be the way to go if you are watching your waist line.

These pop tarts are not easy to make, but once made, they can be easily frozen and then popped (thus, the name, right?) back in to the toaster oven for a few minutes to heat through. You could even freeze these unbaked and then put them on cookie sheets and bake them. They will take a few more minutes because they are frozen, but they should bake up a bit crunchier. This recipe is a time consuming one, but one that will bring plenty of satisfaction to a more advanced baker. The baking of the crust is one of the most important parts of this recipe because a pop tart is pretty much all crust with a bit of flavor. In many ways, this resembles the way the French often bake, with a superb bread or outer crust, and a light and small amount of filling, often fruit, intended to only accent the excellence of that crust. That is the same principle of baking to apply here. So read the crust aspect of this recipe carefully, and be sure to not over blend or over handle your crust.

This is a fabulous recipe to make on a day when you want to advance your culinary skills in to new territories. Consider doubling the recipe. It is no more difficult and since you making something that takes time and patience, you might as well make enough to freeze. Have fun with this recipe, and good luck with it!
