The ABSOLUTE BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies
A good chocolate chip cookie recipe from scratch is something everyone needs in their collection of dessert recipes. Chocolate chip cookies were invented by a lady named Ruth Graves Wakefield who owned the Toll House Inn restaurant where she would bake treats for all of the guests. One time, she was trying to make some chocolate cookies so she added in some Hershey's chocolate squares thinking that they would melt into the sugar cookie dough and make a delicious new chocolate cookie recipe. But the pieces of chocolate stayed in tact and became dispersed throughout the cookie. So the yummy cookie recipes for chocolate chip cookies that we know and love we actually created by mistake. But what a delicious mistake it was.

Makes 12 large cookies
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1/8 cup olive oil
1/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup dark chocolate, chopped into chunks or chips
*use organic baking ingredients when possible.
Preheat your over to 350 degrees F.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
In one large bowl mix together all the ingredients, except the chocolate chips.
Combine very well with an electric mixer or vigorously by hand.
Use a wooden spoon to fold most of the chocolate chunks, saving a few to top the cookies before baking.
Use clean hands to create small balls of cookie dough and press them flat onto the baking sheet.
Top each cookie with some extra chocolate chips.
Bake in preheated oven for 12-13 minutes or until golden brown.Remove from oven and let sit on the baking pan for a few minutes then transfer cookies to a cooling rack.
