Jack Daniels-Peach Pie Bars
This is a light and easy dessert to make when peaches are in season and their flavor is worth highlighting in a dessert. The Jack Daniels whiskey packs a bit of punch, and works really well with peaches, for some reason I have never really fully understood. The glaze contains more Jack Daniels so this treat might be best saved for adult evenings when the kids are off doing other things or in bed early (if that ever happens!).
Jack Daniels Whiskey is the most popular whiskey in the world, and is produced in the great state of Tennessee. From its early roots, it survived prohibition and the temperance movement, and won a gold medal for the world’s best whiskey. It remains the world’s favorite bourbon, and has survived all kinds of changes in recipe, style and design. Bourbon is a great accompaniment for peaches, sharpening the flavor and adding great depth of flavor. The richness of peaches makes them particularly good for a liquor infusion, sweetening and smoothing the flavor of alcohol as a result. Peaches are a fantastic fruit for almost any kind of sweet dessert and even against savory dishes like chicken. They work well added to cakes, in pies and muffins.
This recipe comes together in literally only a few quick minutes, and could even be made mid-evening when friends are over if you are all in the mood for a sweet evening snack. It is quick to make with helping hands to peel and chop the peaches. Serve it with shots of bourbon or coffee with whiskey in it.
