Jalapeno Popper Pigs In a Blanket
Looking for a new party favour with a little surprise flavour? How about this amazing recipe for Jalapeno Popper Pigs In a Blanket? Christy Denney over at “The Girl Who Ate Everything” has given this traditional recipe a little extra spice!
Can you believe football’s the reason for these little babies? I mean, Pigs in a Blanket have been around for a heck of a long time. But with jalapenos? Only the girl who ate everything could come up with something like this. And yes, football is responsible! Christy came up with it when she was looking for something new to add to her football fare recipe list!
First of all, let’s have a close look at jalapeno peppers, some of the most popular peppers in the world, and what they have to offer. Did you know we can trace them as far back as the Aztecs? They would apparently smoke the chilis to preserve them because allowing them to dry out naturally would not work. Jalapenos are quite a fleshy pepper, and so when left to dry they would usually rot instead. When jalapenos are smoked and dried, they are often called “chipotle.” This really brings out their flavour! These spicy green peppers received their name from “Xalapa” which is the capital of Veracruz, Mexico.
Christy Denney is the proud mom of three boys and two girls! And she’s no stranger to big families, having grown up in her own family of ten! She has always loved cooking, but it wasn’t until she first got married to her Miami Dolphin husband that she really HAD to start cooking – to make sure this gigantic football player kept his strength up. No wonder she loves football! And no wonder she’s always trying to find more good, yummy football fare.
