While these maple french toast and bacon cupcakes might be too sweet for breakfast, they are perfect for dessert. These would be perfect for anyone who loves eating breakfast foods any time of day. Everyone loves french toast, the perfectly fried up bread with an egg batter surrounding it. Then all of the sweet maple syrup on top and maybe a topping of berries or other fruit and even some whipped cream. Of course, if you eat meat, bacon probably makes an appearance on your plate alongside the french toast stack you have. French toast is a classic recipe, and it goes way back to the 14th century. It was named pain perdu which means lost bread in French because it was usually made using the stale bread from a loaf so nothing would go to waste. Over the years the recipe for french toast has remained pretty much the same using eggs as a batter with some milk and spices to liven it up a bit. There are not elaborations on the original french toast recipe too, making it into a pumpkin spice french toast. People also use banana bread for their french toast to make a more epic version of the recipe. The thicker banana bread really makes for a nice, thick and decadent treat for breakfast.

These cupcakes also include all of the original flavours of french toast with a lovely maple buttercream frosting and a bacon topping. This is just one of the easy cupcake recipes you can make for events, parties and birthdays for the ones you love. When it comes to dessert recipes, cupcakes are at the top of the list of gourmet dessert recipes, and there are speciality cupcake shops all around the world making some of the most incredible flavours of cupcakes. Much like this maple french toast and bacon cupcake recipe, there are all different kinds of different cupcake flavours these days. In the past, there used to be only a few flavours of cupcakes with chocolate and vanilla being the first ones. Now there are strawberry cupcakes, red velvet cupcakes, carrot cake cupcakes and even savoury cupcakes like cornbread and bacon cupcakes. For this recipe, you'll make a typical cupcake recipe for the cake part of the recipe using butter, sugar, cake flour, baking powder, salt, milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and eggs.

The addition of the nutmeg and cinnamon really make these cupcakes taste like french toast. Then the maple buttercream frosting adds the hit of maple syrup flavour that goes so well with french toast and pancakes. To make the maple buttercream frosting you'll need some more butter, powdered sugar, cream and maple extract, so you have a very strong maple flavour. You will also need a few pieces of bacon to fry up and make the topping for the cupcakes with. All you do is first make your bacon and then set it aside. Then to make the cupcake batter mix the butter and sugar together. In another bowl mix the flour, salt, baking powder, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add in the eggs and the milk to the butter mixture and then add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until they are well combined. Now you can take your muffin tin and line it with some cute cupcake liners and pour in the batter to bake the cupcakes for 25 minutes or so. Then all you have left to do is mix the ingredients of the frosting together and wait until the cupcakes are cooled down to frost them. The last step is to crumble up the bacon and top the cupcakes with it and then enjoy your cupcakes.***
