Mouthwatering Broccoli Cheddar Bacon Quiche

She created this yummy cheesy broccoli cheddar quiche with some bacon in it for a savoury recipe that's great at any time of day, hot or cold. Melissa, like many people, enjoys making quiches as a regular weekly menu item and her family loves quiche. She'll often make a new quiche recipe and then post it on her website for us all to try out. This particular quiche actually has a surprise ingredient which is mayonnaise, something you have maybe never used in your quiche before. You just use a very small amount to give the quiche a super creamy texture and a little bit of extra flavour. The mayonnaise pairs really well with the cheddar cheese and the broccoli too making this a very decadent meal idea. Melissa also gives some of her advice for baking pies and pastries. She recommends that you put the pie dish on a baking sheet before putting it in the oven. This makes the pie or quiche easier to move in and out of the oven without breaking the beautiful crust or the filling. It also helps to catch any drips from the pie too.

All you need is one deep dish frozen pie shell, or make your own fresh one if you prefer. You'll also need 5 large eggs for this recipe, and try to get organic free range eggs when you can. These days you can tell which eggs are best by the label on the carton. If it says organic free range eggs on the carton, you know that the chickens who laid these eggs are kept in a humane, sanitary and natural environment instead of being filled with antibiotics and hormones. You'll also need some heavy cream, and it's also best to use organic dairy products for the same reasons. You'll steam your broccoli florets and chop them up beforehand, and there's also some green onion in the quiche too, as well as 4 slices of bacon and some cheddar cheese which would also be best to be organic free range with no antibiotics or hormones. Once you have all of your ingredients, you mix them all together and put them into the pie crust to bake in the oven for about an hour.
