Try this No Bake Smores Cheesecake, and see if it matches up to the original S’mores we all love so much. This cake has four layers of chocolate, marshmallow and graham wafers that look as pretty as any S’more on a stick or plate. You will find that this delicious and sweet dessert comes together quickly and has to be chilled only briefly to allow flavors to mingle and the cake to fully chill. Everyone will love this great treat.

S’mores, thought to be a contraction of the words, some more, has somewhat unclear origins. Girl Scouts in the late 1920s apparently had a recipe, but it was not until the mid-1970s that there are clear uses of the S’mores. They are a treat that originated in the USA and has become popular in many other countries around the world. It was originally a marshmallow toasted over an open fire then placed on a graham cracker that also held a wedge of chocolate. Another graham wafer formed the top to create a sort of sandwich. You can imagine how much kids loved this treat combination. If you want to celebrate it, National S’mores Day falls on August 10 each year, a perfect day when weather is just starting to cool at night, and a fire and S’mores are the right choice for a night in the back yard.

This recipe is very similar, taken to a larger family serving size, and adding in a cheesecake layer. The cheesecake layer adds a depth to the wonderful treat, and also cuts the sweetness back a bit. If you remember, original S’mores are incredibly rich and sweet. Try this recipe and see if it can tide your family over until national S’mores day in August. Or, make some. Either way, your family will enjoy what you make.
