Oatmeal Raspberry Crumb Bars - Perfect for snacks, potlucks and everything in between

If you love trying new dessert recipes out, you'll love trying out these oatmeal raspberry crumb bars. You'll especially love these bars if you enjoy fruity desserts. These dessert bars would be great to have around the house for a nice sweet snack, to take to potlucks or parties or to have after dinner. This recipe comes to us from Erica, Echo and Emily of Favorite Family Recipes. The sisters started out their website as a place to share their favourite recipes amongst each other, and it so happened that other people wanted to try out their recipes too. These women love sharing recipes from their own family that have been passed down to them, or recipes from the families they've married into. They also enjoy making new recipes of their own. They also released a cookbook in 2012 which you can order online if you want. This recipe is one they found on the Betty Crocker website, but they made some changes to make it their own. The best part is, you don't need a lot of ingredients to make these yummy dessert bars, and they are really easy to make too. So if you have kids who love to help you when you're baking, this would be one of the easy dessert recipes you could make with them.

Apparently, these dessert bars are really good when they first come out of the oven too. They are also amazing when they've cooled down, and they are nice and chewy. This recipe calls for raspberry pie filling which you can make yourself or buy at the store. You can also use a different kind of fruit pie filling like cherry or apple; even blueberry would be good. And since this dessert recipe features a lot of fruit, it's also somewhat healthy too. The recipe also features coconut which you can toast or not depending on your choice. You can also use shredded coconut or flaked coconut; it doesn't really matter for this recipe. They also have tons of other easy dessert recipes to try out, so make sure you take some time to see which other ones look appealing to you. All you need for this recipe is some flour, quick cooking oats, brown sugar, macadamia nuts, coconut shreds, salt, baking soda, butter, a can of raspberry pie filling or whatever fruit you choose and a little bit of cinnamon.

To get started, you'll just mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl using a pastry blender. Then you can stir in the butter, but you melt it first, so it mixes in easily. This recipe also has a base and a topping so you will set aside a bit of the oat mixture for the topping too. Press the majority of the oat mixture into a greased pan, and then you bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 to 20 minutes until it's just light brown. Once the base is ready, simply pour in your raspberry pie filling and spread it evenly over the base. Take the left over oat mixture and stir in the cinnamon to give it a nice flavour and sprinkle that all over the filling too. Don't turn off your oven though, because you'll bake it for another 20 to 25 minutes or until the oat topping is a nice golden brown. This makes about 24 larger bars or 48 smaller pieces.
