An old fashioned recipe is a like a treasure and is worth not only keeping dear, but also sharing with loved ones and yes..even strangers! I recently was in the mood to bake something chocolatey when I came across this old fashioned chocolate cobbler on the Kitchn website (link below). I had never actually had a chocolate cobbler before, but I always have loved both chocolate and cobblers, so figured, that this dessert would be worth a try.

This recipe uses alot of basic ingredients, but you can make it even yummier by choosing a few important things. First, definitely go for the sea salt if you have access to it, because it has a special flavor that regular table salt just misses. Use organic whole milk if you can, and especially if you live in the United States, where much of the dairy may have hormones, antibiotics and such without being labelled. Choose vanilla that is pure (without coumarin, which is known to be a poison in the body). Choose alcohol based vanilla when baking since the alcohol with evaporate away leaving you with the most flavor. Non alcohol based vanilla is really best saved for ice cream and for raw treats so that you do not get the bitter alcohol flavor that comes with it.

If you can find some high quality chocolate the flavor will be increased tenfold! It is also better for your health in so many ways.
