Orange Sugar Cookie with Orange Creamsicle Frosting is an old fashioned flavor for a cookie that we do not see very often any more. But it is a delicious taste, and if you make these cookies, the family will not be disappointed in them (of course, you could argue, are they ever? But never mind that). And this cookie will not disappoint, and far from it. This cookie is a great, made from scratch blend that starts with whipping butter and white sugar, which means a cookie that will have plenty of crunch to it. The flavorings are real orange, orange zest, and lemon, which also means that cookie will pack lots of tart and tanginess in the bite. As well, the zest will add a lovely bit of color and texture throughout the cookie.

A tangy cream cheese icing is added that layers the orange flavors in the icing to complement and give depth to the cookie. This will be a lovely cookie to eat, and it will be hard to stop! But try. With all the icing, these cookies will also have more than enough calories to warrant some quantity control. The recipe is straightforward, but will take a bit of time to prepare because you have to grate the Minneola tangelos that form the orange contribution to the recipe. Do not substitute the orange. Minneola tangelos are a uniquely flavored orange that is much milder in flavor than your usual variety. They are called the honey bell because they are bell shaped, a shape that, once you see it, will help you always recognize this orange. This orange is actually a hybrid of a tangerine and a grapefruit. It is mild in flavor with only a slightly tart flavor. So be sure to use this variety in this recipe.

This is a great recipe that will produce a lovely, sweet and tart, orange flavored cookie with a tangy cream cheese frosting. The trick will be not eating all of the cookies before any one comes home for dinner!
