Peanut Butter Pie with Oreo Cookie Crust - A very special dessert treat
Want to make an impressive dessert that doesn't require a lot of effort? This peanut butter pie with oreo cookie crust is the dessert recipe to try. This easy dessert recipe also only requires six ingredients, plus you don't even have to bake it at all. Unlike other dessert recipes like this one, there is no cream cheese and no cool whip. Amanda from Kevin and Amanda uses real whipping cream in place of these ingredients. She also has another dessert recipe for a salted caramel chocolate pie like this one, and everyone kept asking her to create a peanut butter version, so she came through with this recipe. You can make the dessert the day before you need it for an event and it will be perfect and ready to eat the next day. This dessert is kind of like a big chocolate peanut butter cup, which many people are in love with. So if you know someone who loves chocolate and peanut butter this would be the dessert to make them for their birthday or any other occasion. All you need for this recipe is Oreos cookies, butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, and heavy whipping cream.
If you wanted, you could swap out the whipping cream for coconut cream and the butter for coconut oil, and switch out the Oreos for vegan chocolate cookies for a vegan option. Then add in almond butter instead of peanut butter if you or anyone in your home is allergic to peanuts. You could also try maple syrup or coconut sugar in place of the powdered sugar. Just be sure if you make any of these alterations that you know it will change the flavour and could also change the way the recipe works. But it's always fun to experiment with other ingredients especially if you have allergies or different eating habits. First, you'll make the thick Oreo cookie crust. Just pop all of the Oreos in a food processor and crush them up really finely. If you don't own a food processor, just put the cookies in a big ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush the cookies. Once they are all crushed up, add in the butter and mix well. Now you can put the crust into the bottom of a pie pan and press it to the bottom using a flat-bottomed glass. Set that aside and you'll make your peanut butter filling. Just mix up the peanut butter with the sugar and some more butter and mix with a hand-held mixer or a stand-up mixer. Then, pour the peanut butter mixture into the crust and smooth it out and put it in the freezer to set.
To make the chocolate ganache all you do is put the chocolate chips in a bowl with peanut butter and then in a pan on the stove simmer the whipping cream. Once it's heated, pour it into the peanut butter and chocolate chips and whisk until everything is combined. Then take the pie out of the freezer and pour this layer over top. Put it back in the fridge for an hour before serving or in the freezer for 20 minutes for a quicker result. Then, when you're ready to serve it up, cut it into equal pie pieces, and you can serve it with some fresh homemade whipped cream, or maybe even a chocolate fudge drizzled over top for a really decadent dessert treat.
