This is one of those potatoes recipes that will practically go with any other dish. The other bonus is that they are really easy to make and could be a hit for any meal or occasion. Potatoes are one of the vegetables that you know will go with anything. There are so many different ways to cook potatoes, you can dress them up in so many different ways to suit whatever flavour of food you are making. Potatoes are also really good for you. They have high amounts of potassium and fibre, and they are a great starch that will fill you up. That is why when money was tight in earlier days, people would tend to rely on potatoes. Potatoes are very easy to grow, and they grow in abundance. Potatoes are planted in hills and you can get many potatoes per hill. Potatoes aren't grown from a seed, but rather the eye of a small potato or a small piece of a potato. You know the little eyes that are all over potatoes that you usually cut off? Well, if you have ever left potatoes for too long, you will remember that the eye of the potato will start to sprout up. From this more potatoes will grow.

Potatoes usually store best in a dark, cool place with no dampness. When potatoes are kept in the light, they will tend to sprout faster. You also don't want to store potatoes and onions together as they will both tend to rot faster. Potatoes are a great budget vegetable. When you purchase potatoes in a bag, you get so many for such a low price. Usually you can get a big bag of russet potatoes for under $5 depending on where you live and where you shop. Organic potatoes will always cost a bit more, but it is worth it for your health to purchase organic food whenever you can. The chemicals and genetically modified organisms that are used to grow non organic food can be really harsh on your digestive system. The GMOs that are used when raising plant crops are added to keep away bugs and other pests and plant diseases, but they are still chemicals that we probably shouldn't be consuming. When you purchase organic fruit and vegetables you are buying clean food that will give you nourishment instead of a heap of chemicals. But if you can't always purchase organic foods, then make sure you peel and wash the food thoroughly.
