Pickled Jalapeno Pepper Slices
Don't you just love all of those pickled canned goods you can get at the farmer's markets? But they would cost so much to buy a bunch of them, so here is a great recipe for Pickled Jalapeno Pepper Slices! The home made ones are ALWAYS way better than the ones you buy in cans at the grocery store, that you add to salsas, nachos or sauces. Plus the store bought ones always have a ton of added preservatives that are not good for us and making them at home is a great way to make sure you know what is in your food!
The process is quite simple actually, and you don't even need to can them, unless you want them to keep for longer than several months in the fridge. If you are going to be making a larger quantity, than you might want to can them, so that they stay stable for up to a year or more. You can grow the peppers right in your own garden, or even in containers on a balcony, and usually these plants will give you a good number of peppers. Or you can just buy a bunch at your farmer's market or grocery store pretty inexpensively.
The joy of making these pickled jalapeño peppers, is that you will always have some in stock if you want a snack or to use them for a recipe. They also make awesome gifts or stocking stuffers to give to family and friends who like pickled stuff. It's always nice to get home made stuff for Christmas, I know I love getting home made jams, jellies, pickled stuff and sauces or salsas for gifts. It shows the person put their own time and energy into making something that you can enjoy!
