Looking for the perfect sugar cookie recipe? Here's one from Two Peas And Their Pod. There's nothing quite like homemade cookie recipes from scratch and Maria shares this and other yummy homemade cookie recipes with us through her website. The recipe here is a similar recipe to the Lofthouse Sugar Cookies that are sold in stores that are quite popular. But making homemade cookie recipes from scratch is always the best, so you may want to give her cookie recipe a try. These sugar cookies are also very easy to bake, but the dough does have to be chilled so just make sure you have enough time to do that. Sugar cookies are one of the most popular cookie recipes out there, and most cookie recipes start out as sugar cookies. Usually, sugar cookies simply consist of sugar, butter, flour, eggs, baking soda and baking powder, but this recipe actually includes some sour cream to help make the cookies super moist. Maria chose to cut her cookies into heart shapes, but you can use any cookie cutter shape you like. The heart shaped cookies would be great for Valentine’s Day or for any occasion you want to tell someone you love them. She also makes a delicious buttercream frosting to complement the cookies which is quite common to add onto sugar cookies. Maria decorated the cookies with some pink frosting and sprinkles which looks great for Valentine's Day.

She says that she also makes these cookies for Christmas as well, and you can too. Just choose different cookie cutters to make them fit into the holiday spirit. Some Christmas tree cookies would be great, or some stars or snowflakes. You can buy all sorts of different cookie cutter shapes and create exactly what you want. This is also a great recipe for you to make with your kids, they would especially have fun with the cookie decorating part of the experience. Maria's cookie recipe makes about 5 to 6 dozen sugar cookies which is a lot, so it's good for a large crowd. If you have leftovers, you can always freeze them for later too. The cookies take about 25 minutes to prepare and only 7 minutes to bake, so they don't take up a lot of your time either which is nice. All you need for this recipe is some flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and sour cream. For the frosting, you'll need some more butter, vanilla, powdered sugar, heavy cream and food colouring of your choice to colour the frosting.

To make the cookies all you need to do is mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together, and then in a separate bowl mix together the butter and sugar and then add in the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. This works best in a stand-up mixer, but if you just have a hand held one that would work just fine too. Then, you add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture until it's all combined. Then, divide the cookie dough into two sections and flatten into rectangles that are about 1.5 inches thick and wrap it all with plastic wrap to chill in the fridge for at least two hours, or overnight. When you're ready to bake them line a baking sheet with some parchment paper, then you can cut your cookie shapes out and put them on the sheet. You then bake them for only 7 minutes until they are slightly golden on the edges and then remove them from the oven and allow to cool before decorating them.
