Southwestern Potato Salad
Are you searching for great salad recipes? This Southwestern Potato Salad packs a lot of flavour into a simple salad with fresh ingredients and is definitely worth a try. Salads are the best recipes to make when you need a quick and effortless meal or side dish. You can basically just choose items from your fridge and make a nice salad out of them. Potato salad recipes are great for making use of leftover potatoes that hasn't had a sauce or seasonings put on them. And since there is no distinct flavour to potatoes, they can take on whatever flavours you want to add to them. Potatoes make a great base for any salad and will help to make it more filling as well. Most of the potato salads you may know are probably covered in a thick, creamy sauce, but there are so many other ways to make a simple salad that is really healthy and delicious. If you aren't a fan of mayonnaise or you are vegan, you can try out some vegan mayonnaise that has no animal products in it. Another option is to use oil and vinegar to make a nice zesty dressing for your salad recipes. This recipe calls for mayonnaise and sour cream, but you could also substitute that with greek yogurt if you like for a healthier option.
This simple salad recipe has a little bit of everything in it and it boasts a vibrant Mexican flavour. With cumin and chili powder as well as some cilantro and a jalapeno pepper, you are sure to have a very flavourful potato salad with a little heat to it. There are also great vegetables like corn, green onions, a red bell pepper and of course the potatoes, so you would also have a very colourful salad as well. The one thing you may notice about this salad recipe is that it doesn't have egg in it like potato salads usually do. Some people are allergic to eggs or just don't like them, and some people are vegan which means they don't eat any animal products at all by choice, so it's nice to offer a potato salad option that doesn't include any eggs. If you do want to put eggs into this salad to make it more like a traditional potato salad recipe, then feel free to add them in. It is always great if you can choose free range eggs that come from happy chickens that are allowed to roam freely, and aren't dosed with tons of antibiotics and hormones.
